The Story Behind WeightLossInjectionsIreland.ie

This site exists because finding clear information about weight management costs in Ireland shouldn’t be a full-time job.

We started this project as a small group of users who were frustrated by the lack of transparency in the market. We realised that the price for the exact same medical treatment could vary by hundreds of euros depending on which pharmacy you walked into-or which county you were in.

We found that unless you had the time to ring dozens of pharmacies or clinics individually, you were likely overpaying. We built this resource to change that.

How We Gather Data: we operate as a collective intelligence tool. The pricing and availability information you see here is aggregated from three key sources:

  1. Community Reporting: Real-time updates submitted by patients currently in treatment.

  2. Provider Listings: Publicly available price lists published by clinics and pharmacies.

  3. Direct Research: Our team regularly spot-checks prices to ensure our data remains a reliable baseline for the Irish market.

We are 100% independent. We do not accept payment to list providers, nor do we take commissions. If a provider is on our list, it is because they are part of the market, not because they paid to be there.

Our mission is simple: Transparency.

We believe that patients in Ireland deserve to know the landscape of healthcare costs. We exist solely to gather, organise, and present this information clearly. We do not sell products, we do not take commissions, and we do not promote specific medicines. We are here to give you the facts, so you can make the right choice for yourself.

Our Core Promise

Understanding Cross-Border Access

One of the most common questions we all face is the difference between the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland. Many patients notice price differences across the border and are unsure of the rules.

Here is the practical reality of accessing care in the North:

The "Cross-Border" Prescription: It is legal to fill a prescription in Northern Ireland that was written by a doctor in the Republic. Under EU/UK agreements, a valid prescription from an Irish GP or consultant is recognised by NI pharmacists. However, you must ensure you have a physical, ink-signed copy of the script; digital Healthmail copies used in the Republic generally cannot be accessed by systems in the North.

Currency & Claims: Transactions in NI are in Sterling (£) and prices often vary between ROI and NI, so it's best to check the comparison to see how this might impact you.

Please note that this info is provided for general reference only and should always be confirmed directly with the pharmacy you are dealing with directly.

A Note on Northern Ireland

Clinical Decisions Come First

It is important to remember that weight management injections are Prescription-Only Medicines (POMs). Unlike buying supplements or vitamins, accessing these treatments is strictly a medical process, not a retail transaction.

Whether a treatment is suitable for you is not determined by a website, but by a registered doctor. They will assess:

  • Your full medical history.

  • Current medication and potential interactions.

  • Clinical guidelines regarding BMI and weight-related health conditions.

  • The potential risks versus benefits for your specific situation.

WeightLossInjectionsIreland.ie solely tries to help with aggregating prices from known providers. We do not assess eligibility. We do not offer opinions on whether you should take medication, nor do we comment on clinical criteria. Those conversations must happen in a consultation room with a qualified healthcare professional.
